RECEPTIVE TO BLISS: Creating an Uncluttered Mind
© February 2003 Debora Myers

If you really want to feel bliss in your life, learn to integrate balance into all aspects of it. After all it is YOUR life! As you do that you can incorporate these same balances into your sexual life. This fall and winter I will give you an introduction to the Five Keys to Sexual Bliss. We will use the five-pointed star of balance as our map.

The Five Keys to Lovemaking Magic and Sexual Bliss:
  1. Creating an Environment that is a haven.
  2. Creating a Physical Body that is healthy and receptive.
  3. Creating an uncluttered Mind.
  4. Creating Emotional balance.
  5. Creating a Spiritual connection to the Creator

Empty Your Mind - Go ahead, just try it.

To become receptive to bliss we must gather and then dump all the clutter, static and mental lint that clings to our mind. It's kind of like cleaning out your closet in the fall to make room for the new. It makes sense. We need to clear our minds so that we have more room for input of positive programming and thoughts. We also will be better able to tune into ourselves, our desires, our erotic impulses and be less distracted by the buildup of life around us. As we do so, we can consciously redirect our thoughts and influence our emotional surges into a more constructive life-way. Remember that the spiritual, physical, mental, emotional and environmental are interconnected. We are seeking to balance these aspects of our lives for a more blissful life.

We've all been there at one time or another. He's running his hand across your back and down your thigh. Kissing the back of your neck and groping into your panties. Or, you're sitting on the waterfront trying to enjoy the view but where are your thoughts? You find yourself thinking about the chicken in the fridge that needs to be cooked before it goes bad or about the laundry you left in the washing machine to sour. These minor worries are easier to delete from your mind but they interfere with your bliss nonetheless. But what about the major worries that many in this world have?

Major worries or thoughts may require extra work when it comes to quieting our minds. I'm thinking about the sister that's child has just been diagnosed with Leukemia, or the sister living on the Gaza strip, or my brother that must fight in a war he doesn't support How do you quiet your mind under such circumstances?

Discipline.

These are the circumstances and life lessons where we must give ourselves (even if only a few minutes a day) quiet of mind for a few minutes of bliss- of tuning into the higher love of the creator/creation and universal love consciousness.

This will help us to get through the next day and stay open for the little miracles that happen especially in the middle of war and crisis. We must look to the glass half full- we must keep open enough to the love in every situation.

Cleaning Out The Closet

The technique is simple. Under less drastic circumstances there is no real reason to make this process difficult. Try to prepare a physical environment that is conducive to relaxation. If you are in an environment that is distracting do the best you can. Do little meditations in quiet moments as circumstances allow.

My grandma-friend would call in "peace"? between shelling during WWII when she lived in Poland. She would not only pray for an end to the war, she quieted her mind and let peaceful energy in so that she could have the strength to carry on and deal with the horrors of war, care for her family and deal with the Nazi's that had occupied her family home etc The point is that she did make time and she did carry on and ended up with the clarity of mind to not only protect her family but she saved people by hiding them in her haystacks etc Kept her family safe and outwitted the Nazi's! She is 87 and still working to help people today!

Breathe!

Start with deep cleansing breaths, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth. Breathe in deeply and expand your rib cage to inhale as deeply as possible. Quiet your mind. As the jabbering thoughts rush in and distract, acknowledge them but do not focus on them. Allow them to dissipate and continue with breathing. Focus on your breath. In and out, in and out . Practice will make perfect. Keep breathing. Call in the Light! Say a prayer of protection and pull in the God/Goddess/Great Spirit/ Allah higher consciousness energy in to protect you. Whatever label or tradition you follow, pull in the love of creation and fill your heart, soul and body with this divine and universal love energy. This will keep you protected from negativity as you open yourself.

Visualize!

A technique used to replace negative thoughts is to visualize something peaceful to focus on that visualization instead of the distracting thoughts. Many folks visualize themselves sitting on an abandoned beach and focus on the imaginary or cosmic waves crashing in. Some folks focus on a sunset, or rainfall or the warmth of the "sun"? on their shoulders as well as the deep breaths. Distracting thoughts will come in less and less. As they do come in, however, focus on the visualization. This is a good tool to retrain your mind into settling down and quieting. Sometimes our subconscious mind is so full of fears and yucky stuff that very ugly and strange, disturbing images and thoughts may surface. Realize that it is simply your subconscious desperately trying to deal with life's problems. Don't take these images too seriously. Acknowledge them as fear based projections, and tell them that you see them, then release them. Breathe! Continue Breathing! Use your breaths to help release your fears.

Allow yourself to come back up into your conscious, wakeful mind as you become overly distracted and fidgety. As with any discipline, practice makes perfect. At first you may just be able to meditate a few minutes at a time. But as your mind gets used to it and you establish a routine, you will be able to meditate and clear your mind for longer periods of time therefore dealing with more distractions and negative programming. As you practice this you will find that in conscious moments throughout your day, you'll be able to dump negative or distracting thoughts automatically. This is a learned behavior and ultimately only you can retrain yourself. You can always hire help to accelerate the process. A trained hypnotist, counselor, psychologist or psychiatrist can help you get started or help you deal with tougher issues seeming to plague your mind such as horrors of violent memories, abuse etc By clearing your mind of the negative input and distractions we leave space for the good stuff! Without all those distractions we will find that it is much easier to tune into all the beauty, love and bliss surrounding us! Blessed are we if we learn to look at the gifts bestowed upon us. Always take life one day at a time, live in the present and strive to move onward and upward. You can create your own reality!

RECEPTIVE TO BLISS: Recreating Your Physical Body

As we know, our bodies reflect our thoughts, spirits, emotions and physical environment. Actually, all of these aspects reflect off of one another, so balancing the energy we place into these areas of our lives will certainly give us a better chance at bliss. But how many of us are still running on empty even though we know better? What did you have for breakfast this morning? Did you get enough sleep last night? Were you in such a hurry that you grabbed a cola and cookies for lunch at 3:00 p.m.? Most of us know how to take care of ourselves. The problem lies in "how much do you really care about yourself" and how much effort will you go to for YOU? As women and traditional nurturers we make sure our families are taken care of but we tend to put ourselves at the bottom of the list. Yes, it is important to take care of your loved ones but with that being said, it is also imperative that we care for ourselves so that we can continue on and actually love and enjoy ourselves, our lives and those we love.

Just as we can program our subconscious minds to behave in certain ways, we also can reprogram our bodies down to the cellular level. Example: I used to have asthma. I didn't like becoming short of breath and I missed swimming laps. I would wheeze and experience shortness of breath and get light headed and dizzy whenever I exerted myself. This can be quite distracting and embarrassing in the height of wild lovemaking, (not so sexy either.)

I would also have to stop in the middle of an exercise class to catch my breath. I started meditating in the steam room of my gym. I would inhale deeply and visualize that steamy air as healing blue light expanding and healing all those little air sacs. After a week of that I started swimming underwater. I'd swim a quarter of the length of the pool and eventually worked my way to staying underwater and holding my breath for almost the entire length of the pool. I visualized my lungs as healthy and fully expanded and pink with oxygen. I don't wheeze any longer. It's really nice to be able to run, make love and swim without having to stop and gasp.

We have to integrate the five aspects of ourselves together equally. It isn't as simply as visualizing my lungs as healthy. I also don't smoke, I eat foods that support my system, I exercise regularly and I rest when I need to. I take the physical or third dimensional steps needed to stay as health as I can. Here are a few reminders to help you stay on the road to good physical health and for integrating the third dimensional physical routines into your whole existence.

Educate yourself about wholesome foods and health. Marilu Henner has written a wonderful series of healthy, whole-foods books packed with info and delicious recipes. Check her out. 'Healthy Life Kitchen' She knows what she is doing. Also Check out http://www.donlemmon.com he offers help with exercise and nutrition with a no-nonsense approach.

Keep healthy and simple foods in your home pantry and fridge. Willpower is needed first at the store and second at home. Gently integrate your family into your healthy food routine. Sometimes its way too difficult to avoid all that junk food sitting there calling you ("that you bought for them"). If your husband wants chips and soda and ice cream let him go to the store and buy his own. It's likely that if it's not in the house your family will opt for something else, rather than have to put on their shoes and go out and buy it.

Anyway, you'll be doing them a favor as well. Keep healthy alternatives readily available. That doesn't mean you have to spend a lot of money at the health food store. A big bowl of mixed fruit on the table and wholesome muffins will be a much better alternative than junk and easy to reach for. You don't have to be a great cook either. It doesn't take a gourmet cook to prepare brown rice, pinto beans and salad.

Let's face reality: Tap water can contain many harmful elements and tastes nasty. Keep purified water in your home and stop purchasing the sugared/artificially flavored sweetened drinks. Drink water, teas and juices. (Remember that "juice drinks" or juice cocktails are just sugar-water with a splash of fruit juice added.) Why waste your money? Eliminate soda, coffee and alcohol.

Exercise regularly every day. Walk, ride your bike and incorporate some kind of exercise ritual into your routine. Classes are a great way to discipline yourself into a regular routine. Water aerobics, floor aerobics, tennis, weight lifting, a women's basketball teamÉthe list goes on. No excuses! Too many people opt out of an exercise routine saying they are too tired, that life gives them enough exercise. In actuality, a daily exercise routine will give you more energy, strength and will help you to sleep better. It also stimulates production and release of endorphins that help you to feel euphoric and clear minded.

Get enough rest and relaxation! Take the time to pamper yourself and let your body have time to recover from your daily stress. Don't depend upon chemicals to "relax you." It's a very temporary fix if you have to use drugs etcÉ Yoga, meditation and a hot bath can do wonders! Pampering and self-appreciation are important aspects of caring for your body. Take time to care for your personal hygiene. Massage and masturbation are a wonderful combination for sexual healing. If your body carries sexual tension and it becomes congested you may find yourself dealing with the physical manifestations of no sexual release. Many holistic health care providers say that the negative physical manifestations can show up as vaginal yeast infections, PMS, menopausal symptoms and other gynecological and other body system ailments. Love yourself and explore your body with a sense of awe and gratitude. Give yourself priority!

Pay attention to your body signals and learn to slow down and listen to what she is trying to tell you. Take care of the vessel in which your soul is living. By improving how you treat yourself, what you put into your bodyÉ you can begin to become an entirely new person. By creating a body that is healthy and receptive you open yourself to a new life full of wonderful and exciting possibilities. You can create your own reality!

CREATING YOUR LOVE HAVEN

Your personal environment is a reflection of your inner self. Stop and take a look around at your home. What message does it reflect? What feelings does your surrounding den evoke? Is your personal environment comfortable? Is it pleasing to your senses? Is it conducive to your inner and outer growth? Is your love den sterile and cool or does it reflect warmth, heat and safety?

It is important to have an immediate environment where we feel safe and comfortable enough to be able to let down, tune into and hear our inner selves. As we work at eliminating the distracting aspects inside us we will begin to create an outer environment with fewer distractions and visa versa.

Are you currently living in an environment where your plans are sabotaged by the people surrounding you? Do you surround yourself with people that support you? Those that we associate with are also part of our environment.

Generally we have the power to choose with whom we live and associate with on a daily basis. By realizing that it is our choice to live among certain people we empower ourselves to take responsibility for our own lives and to stop blaming others for not reaching our potentials etc.

People even use their children as excuses not to excel, "I'd start exercising if I didn't have to pick up the kids." Or "I'd love to take on that new job but my husband isn't comfortable with me working nights." Are these excuses valid? Or are these excuses reflecting your fear of taking responsibility for yourself and your own choices?

So really take the time to look at your environment. Look at your choices of what and with whom you are surrounding yourself with. With daily meditation, learn to get in touch with the inner you and learn to define what it is you want from life, then draw up a plan on how you will improve your environment to suit those needs and goals.

Eliminate the peripheral garbage or abstractions in your thinking process and mind. Focus on the positive and the goal.

A-B-C, It is actually very simple. Nothing esoteric and mystical, the energy we put forth causes a reaction. So be careful and thoughtful about what you want from life and what you put out into the universe. Remember the old saying that cleanliness is next to Godliness? Well, there is a certain truth to the saying. No, I don't mean to imply that we should have that bottle of antibacterial goop with us everywhere we go to please our creator.

I'm implying that if we live in a clean and balanced way, which does not harm our earth mother and those that we share the planet with, we are thinking not only of ourselves but our inherent connection with everyone and everything.

Our environment and Haven is not only limited to our own personal den. As our consciousness awakens and expands we realize that earth is our haven and those we share the planet with are our brothers and sistersÉall part of our familial environment.

We can expand farther out from there realizing our connection with other life forms, spirits and angelic type beings and different levels of consciousness out into an infinite universe. How exciting! Remember that we are co-creators and we must accept our roles and our responsibility for ourselves. At the same time we must also learn to go with the flow or not push the river of our Creation/God/Goddess' higher plan. There is a fine line between allowing the universe to flow though us and our conscious effort to create our own reality.

Balance Balance Balance!

We must learn to express our creativity, our love and create beauty in our love dens and in our physical appearances. Your sexuality can be reflected in your boudoir and self and vice versa.

Do you wish to heat things up in your love life? Then add some heat and warmth to your bedroom. Warm base-chakra and heart colors can add heat and depth: deep colors, oranges, reds, and magentas, wine, deep purples accented with blues. Add plants that are life affirming and oxygenate the room. Purchase or make soft cuddly pillows for comfort and propping! Add artwork to reflect your deepest feelings and desires. You may not be comfortable with blatant erotic images, but suggestions of sensuality, warmth and erotic creation energy can do wonders to inspire and help your Eros to unfold. The right lighting can add so much to atmosphere.

Remember that we are spirits living in a third dimensional world. We must integrate what we want and how we feel into the physical. That is what ritual is all about. Ritualize your lovemaking and sexuality. Practice and habit make for physical affirmations of what you want!! Just remember to always keep the positive aspects in mind when affirming. Focus on what you are creating. Not on what you feel you are lacking!

Your reflection is also shown in how you dress. Visualize how you want to look, or how you look in the spiritual plane. Now, how can you reflect that in the physical world? Today, go through your closet and clean out all the clothing that makes you feel less than desirable and frumpy etc. Take those old clothes, bless them with good energy and give them to your favorite charity thrift shop. As you shop for new items keep your visualization of your (real) self clear in your minds eye. Reflect that wonderful, loving, exotic, erotic spirit! By taking the initiative in the physical plane, you are in turn recreating and allowing your spirit to be free.

Recreate yourself and your environment to reflect beauty and love!!

WE ARE THE GODESS: Sex, Creation, & the Universal Mind
© October 2002 Debora Myers

As my writing expression evolves along with me I have struggled to place into words exactly what the "magical" formula is to becoming empowered, happy and in love with life. This is where I come to the expression of my higher-self.

Our Goddess/God selves are the universal or group mind.

I was attracted to Native American spirituality as a young woman because of it's recognition of our connection to nature and other's around us. I felt comfortable with a spirituality based on the concept of 'The Great Spirit.' The creator or God/Goddess consciousness is not separated into a male or female deity but is expressed as the Great Spirit or universal mind that we are a part of.

When we really open our hearts and souls and look inside we eventually start to realize our connection with all of creation because we are an integral part of that creation process. I have heard far too many people including myself say "but I'm not creative." As if being creative were limited to being able to paint picture-perfect flowers on a canvas or write an exhilarating novel.

Once we realize that we are a part of creation, a part of the whole we then can open ourselves to the concept that we are all related. We then will find a conduit to unlimited expression of creativity. With this awakening we begin to understand why sex and sexuality are so important to most of us. We are struggling to reflect, enjoy, create and reconnect with Higher Consciousness.

This is a simplistic way of putting it but I like simple diagrams. Picture an electrical power plant as the Great Spirit. Now picture yourself as a toaster, TV, computer or other appliance. Now, if the electrical power lines are frayed or become crimped or disconnected we lose our power source and we shut down. Simple, is it not?

By simply repairing our connection to the source we can begin to operate again. The Internet is also a microcosm and a physical reflection of our group mind. Think about the net that connects the entire globe to one another. That is how many of us view Great Spirit. How do we repair our connection?

Let go of Fear

Self-Realization

Universal Love

Non Judgment of Other's Life Lessons (this is the most difficult!)

Many have found that the key to being happy is in the realization of our connection to one another and the whole. With this realization comes a universal love. As our hearts open to each other and everything in our reality we can begin to reconnect with the universal mind. We are all here to learn certain life lessons on the schoolhouse of earth. Let go of judgment, fear and hate. Concentrate on your own path and open your heart to understanding and peace. Only then can we be truly happy.

Love filled sexuality is the ultimate form of creative outlet. Our sexual connections have the potential of connecting with the Great Spirit (How many have said that children are a gift from God?) Let's look at sex and how we can dispense our love in a truly holy way that reflects Universal Love and the Great Spirit.

As we open our minds, hearts and souls to universal love, non-judgment of others, and all of creation we will find that sex "lovemaking" is the perfect conduit to reaching our ultimate source. When sex is made with responsibility, light and love it can be the ultimate in transcendental meditation. As we transcend our earthly and ego-oriented limitations we will learn to make love to the world, and everyone here as we ignite our connection with the universe and Great Spirit.

Make Love Everybody! Let's lift Human Consciousness together into the Love Light! We are connected in a chain and if enough of us rise above the negative fear-based emotions we can pull others along with us to "see the light".

Making Love is of course not limited to sexual loving. Mother Theresa chose to express her love by caring for the sick and homeless... Find ways to love one another that fit into your life and then follow your path.
